Casino Royale was the first film to cast Daniel Craig as MI6 agent James Bond and provided a reboot to the James Bond series with the producers establishing a new timeline and narrative framework not meant to precede or succeed any of the previous films. It is the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel of the same name, after the 1954 CBS television adventure series Climax! and the film 1967 starring David Niven.
